Dana Tai Quickly Burgess is aware of his manner round a museum. The Smithsonian’s first choreographer-in-residence had an extended partnership with the Nationwide Portrait Gallery, the place his eponymous troupe has typically carried out.
This October, eight years after debuting his “Picasso Dances” on the Kreeger Museum, the corporate returns there with “The Mallorca Suite,” Burgess’s 30-minute, 10-performer dance impressed by the art work of Joan Miró — particularly the Mallorca Collection, which is within the Kreeger assortment. Pianist Haskell Small will play the accompanying music, by Federico Mompou — who, like Miró, was born in Barcelona.
