Smash Mouth lead singer Steve Harwell died Monday at his house in Boise, Idaho. He was 56.

Harwell had “many well being points,” and died from acute liver failure, the band’s supervisor Robert Hayes confirmed.

The “All Star” singer, who retired from the band two years in the past, died peacefully, surrounded by household and associates, Hayes stated.

“Steve Harwell was a real American Unique,” Hayes stated. “A bigger than life character who shot up into the sky like a Roman candle.”

Harwell retired from the band after a live performance in upstate New York about two years in the past, the place he was heard slurring his phrases and making vaguely threatening feedback towards the viewers, in line with Selection.

Throughout Harwell’s tenure with Smash Mouth, the band bought over ten million albums worldwide, had two #1 hit singles and a Grammy nomination.

The band is most identified for hits like “All Star” and their cowl of The Monkees’ “I am a Believer,” which could be heard within the “Shrek!” soundtrack.
