The college’s board of trustees authorized the extension for Bobinski, 65, who got here to Purdue from Georgia Tech in 2016. Purdue final 12 months gained its first Large Ten West Division championship in soccer and claimed the Large Ten regular-season and match championships in males’s basketball. The Boilermakers’ ladies’s basketball workforce in March reached its first NCAA match in six seasons.

Bobinski, a former pitcher at Notre Dame who first turned an athletic director in 1994 at Akron, led an $18.5 million marketing campaign in the course of the COVID-19 pandemic that prevented the division from having to chop groups or tackle heavy debt. Soccer attendance has grown from a mean of 34,451 in Bobinski’s first 12 months to 57,129 in 2022.

“I am grateful to President [Mung] Chiang, board chairman [Michael] Berghoff and all the Board of Trustees for offering me the chance to proceed working alongside our gifted Boilermaker student-athletes, coaches and workers,” Bobinski mentioned in a press release. “It is a particularly dynamic time in faculty athletics, and I stay up for serving to Purdue navigate the challenges and alternatives that lie forward.”
